Create Dance, founded by Louise Khan, aims to provide exciting dance classes in a range of styles and a pace to suit everyone. Dancing not only is a great way to have fun, but it also aids fitness, improves posture, develops confidence as well as social skills.
Unfortunately it will be the last teen dance class on Monday 12th July before breaking up for the summer, so to finish with a bang the class will be completely, 100% FREE!
We will be doing something new and something fun to finish with – I might even bring some sweeties to provide a bit of a sugar rush and keep the energy up!
If you and your friends are interested, come along and we’ll dance like there’s no one watching
The class is held at Menzies City Learning Centre, Clarkes Lanes, West Bromwich, B71 2BX, between 4.30pm – 5.30pm.
Thanks to an amazing present from my sister I was at the Leona Lewis concert on Tuesday night. What a fantastic concert! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but because of her HUGE belters I was thinking of something simple, just Leona, her fabulous gowns and angelic voice. Instead, I was completely wowed by the visually enchanting sets, screen displays, and dancers who wonderfully brought Leona’s songs to life.
The show combined a dynamic mix of dance choreography courtesy of Jermaine Browne (and his assistant Rachel Kay), who has worked with the likes of Anna Vissi, Christina Aguilera, and Jennifer Lopez, with the slick aerial choreography of Dreya Weber. Dreya has worked with Pink, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Cher, so you would expect nothing but greatness. The end result was beautiful, a mesmerising display of talent. The storytelling abilities of the choreographers and energy of the dancers really brought me into Leona’s Labyrinth world.
I was reduced to tears at many points during the concert, and for those who know me might not think that this is unusual, but in particular “I Got You”, was so romantic, elegant and captivating I couldn’t stop my bottom jaw from quivering. Not only did Leona look like a fairytale princess but the single male dancer who performed with her looked so in love, and executed his movements with such sincerity I genuinely believed he was in love…although I suppose this isn’t too difficult to do when its Leona you’re dancing with!
One of my other favourite songs “Can’t Breathe”, was danced using what I can only describe as giant exercise balls which dancers lay on, moved around, and jumped over, definitely different. In contrast, Leona sang a fantastic cover of Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Really Care About Us” which showed off the choreographer’s edgy and athletic style which was performed with precision and conviction by the dancers.
In short, Leona was faultless, and her dancers were inspiring. I loved the concept, loved the outfits, loved it!
Last night was the first teen street dance class. Due to only putting promotional material out the day schools and colleges were breaking up for half term not many people got to see there was a new dance class starting which was a shame – I completely forgot about half term. We were only a small class last night, but I had great fun.
We started a dance routine to Candy by Aggro Santos & Kimberly Wyatt - its fast and funky, definitely gives you a good work out. I’d recommend you bring a bottle of water
If you are interested in learning some new dance routines come and join us next Monday at Menzies City Learning Centre West Bromwich.
Adult classes are a fun and exciting alternative to the gym as well as a great way to meet new people. Different routines every week to your favourite r’n'b and hip hop tracks designed to challenge you physically and mentally. The focus is on having a good time in a fun and relaxed environment, whilst getting fit and boosting self confidence!
This class is a mix of clean, sleak, up-to-date moves. Classes are creative and blend hip hop styles with modern commercial moves. This class is designed to develop technique and your own style.
Classes are fun and energetic, and aim to improve your child’s dance skills whilst making friends, building concentration and confidence. Your child will learn moves as part of choreographed routines as well as the opportunity to work on their own freestyle and choreography skills.
Another adults class has now been confirmed – whoop whoop!
When I was younger I used to do dance shows at the Ansells Sports Club in Perry Barr, when I heard it had been converted into a brand spanking new gym I thought I would go down to check it out. It is perfect! The studio is bright and airy – and my particular fav, it has a wall of mirrors It has a large car park and you don’t need to be a member of the gym to take the classes, so its open to everyone.
The paperwork is all signed so classes officially start Thursday 24th June, 7pm – 8pm. If your interested feel free to contact me – if you have any songs you just LOVE, feel free to email them too.
After a very successful meeting yesterday with Susan from Menzies City Learning Centre (CLC), Create Dance are able to offer a teenage street dance class for 13-17 year olds. The starting date for these classes will be Monday 7th June. See the classes page for more information.
It was so lovely to speak with Susan who genuinely wanted to help set something up for the young people of Sandwell to provide a place to go after the school day as well as offering a fun form of exercise. Susan has a love of dancing and runs a dance class herself and therefore is aware of the positive benefits dancing brings. If this class proves successful there may be an opportunity to offer more classes and to other age groups which would be fantastic. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
A HUGE thank you to Susan for all her help and I look forward to hopefully seeing teenagers from Sandwell at the first class on the 7th June.
Create Dance has now got its very first adult street dance class. Its been difficult to find space to hold classes but thankfully the Tanhouse Community Centre had a vacancy which I had to snap up! The first class will be held on Wednesday 2nd June 2010 at the Tanhouse Community Centre, Great Barr. See the classes page for more information.
On Wednesday night I was invited to the 3rd Wombourne Girl Guides to take a dance class. I was very surprised when I got there to see the hall filled with 50 very enthusiastic young girls all willing to give it a go and have some fun. The girls learnt a dance routine to the infamous Beyonce Single Ladies. The girls were absolutely fantastic, a group of very talented young dancers. I was made so welcome and had such a fun time, if only i was 10 (…ish) years younger i would love to join the gang! A huge thank you to Frenchie for inviting me, and to all the girls for giving their best Beyonce shakes – hopefully see you again soon.
